So, I have figured out the best and most fun way to host events at my house. I do all the fun stuff, (like the decorating) and I recruit friends to do all the un-fun stuff (like the cooking).
Tomorrow night we’re hosting our second annual Christmas at the Parsonage open house. We had so much fun last year! We invite our church to come over and have cookies and punch and enjoy hanging out in our living room. And, some incredible women are bringing some of their best goodies to snack on. I even have a friend who’s coming to do the tablescape. I love to decorate, but I’m tablescape-challenged. She walks in, tosses down a few upside down pots and pans, covers them with tablecloths, and just like that the table is totally beautiful and I have no idea how it even happened.
I remember one time I went into a Michael’s, and a woman was working there putting wreaths and flower arrangements together. I complimented her on her amazing talent for flower-arranging, and she immediately gave God the glory for her abilities. She told me she arranges flowers for His glory. We can use all sort of abilities and talents to glorify God. My friends are baking cookies, making punch, and setting up a beautiful table. I’m no master chef, but I have no problem at all talking people’s ears off all night long at an open house. Together, we will extend Christian hospitality and, in simple ways, pouring punch, giving tours of the parsonage, giving hugs, smiling and laughing, I hope we will show His love.
He can use us all in so many ways.
And, I am sure thankful that this town is filled with amazing cooks, because I call on them often to fill in where I am lacking. That’s what the Body of Christ looks like. We each play our roles. And, each role is important.
Now I must get some sleep because I have lots to do before our sweet church shows up tomorrow. If I haven’t said it lately, I absolutely love being a pastor’s wife. But, that’s a post for another day.
Blessings to you! Next week I’ll do a Christmas home tour for y’all so you can come over, too! And, don’t forget to enter the Christmas ornament giveaway from The Sparrow Project!
I love hearing from you!
