Today I ran across a cool idea from Rebekah R. Jones. She uses note-taking and journaling Bibles to create art pieces (she calls it art journaling) on the pages of scripture. I love the notion of using your creative talents to meditate on the scripture passages you’re studying. I think this might be a perfect way to help my artistic Adelade get more involved in her study of the Bible.
Check out Rebekah’s Bible Art Journaling Challenge here. See some of her art journaling in the video below. You can purchase the NASB Note-taker’s Bible here or the ESV Journaling Bible here.

Hi! I have been following since this summer and actually re-posted your blog on kids in church. 🙂 Your content is wonderful!
Faith art journaling is great and I love the tutorials that Rebekah posts. But I wanted to let you know about another option: I am actually the illustrator and write the art tutorials for an online Bible study called Bible Stories from the Heart. I think Adelade, and your readers, would LOVE it! Leslie Eaton writes the lessons (1 per week) and then I write a full tutorial on one possibility of how you can respond to one of the verses. We are reposting our study of Exodus for the next six weeks and have a six week various verse study. We are working on one for advent right now. 🙂 People of all ages have been following–homeschoolers to senior citizens. You can find us on facebook and on our website http://www.biblestoriesfromtheheart.com.
I also post an artwork and devotion from my faith art journaling on my own blog at http://www.nicplynel.com where she might get great ideas. Let me know if she has any questions! I also do teaching and speaking events for this form of worship. It is such a great way to meditate on the Word and really let it sink into our hearts. Plus you get to play and be creative!

Nicole, I have looked at your work before, and I love it. But, I had never seen Bible Stories from the Heart! I can’t wait to show Adelade. Thanks so much for your comment! You have such a gift. If only you were closer to Texas! I would love to have you do a class. Please let me know if you ever come this way!
