This weekend we celebrated Emerald’s second birthday with a really fun kitty cat party. I’m excited to show you some of the details of the day.
Let me start by saying that I got a Silhouette Portrait for Christmas, and all I can say is where has this thing been all my life? After using it for the party and realizing how easy it is to work with, I now have a million ideas for future projects. Thanks to this machine, with a $5 pack of colored cardstock from WalMart and a few balls of yarn we made all of the decorations for Emerald’s sweet little party. So, here are the details:
I chose a kitty cat theme because Emerald has been pretty wild about cats ever since we adopted a cat in January. She’s been talking about her “kee-cat pah-tee” for a month, and I’m pretty sure she had about decided it was never going to happen.
As I revealed in a recent post, I am a procrastinator, so all of these decorations came together in the two days before the party, and they were pretty much a full time job. As my nine year old astutely pointed out last week, we had no food in the pantry nor any clean underwear, but we sure did have lots of cute kitty decor.
I made cat ears for all of the kids to wear using this method. And the tasty sprinkled popcorn recipe is here. Emerald had a great time at her party, and when it was over, I needed a nap. Major thanks goes to my mom who drove two hours just to glue tiny whiskers and eyeballs on millions of kitty cats. And, now I have to wait all the way until January for my next child’s birthday party! But, don’t worry, I’ll wait until two days before to actually start planning it, per my usual.
Your daughter looks like she’s really enjoying the party. 🙂
