Just when you’re sure that you will be overcome by the ache of watching your children grow before your very eyes, you have a night where not one, but two of them pull their own teeth.
And that, my friends, is how I know that God blesses in all the stages of parenthood.
I stood aside and cheered them on and cringed and hid my eyes while they fearlessly yanked out teeth. And I thanked God that I didn’t have to do it myself.
I wonder why they don’t list this milestone in the child development books?

It seems like a noteworthy moment. Praising God tonight for the little things, like children who are still little enough, but who are also getting just big enough. It’s a good time to be a mama.

Oh my gosh…I am laughing so hard! I am a kindred spirit as I sat here holding my stomach reading about the pulling of the teeth!! auughh!!!! Wait til your third one is at this stage…we often didn’t even realize the tooth was gone til we got home from the ballpark and hey…one was missing….love it! =0)

Ha, Laura! I hate pulling teeth! Chad is usually the tooth puller, but they say it hurts when he does it, so they just took to doing it themselves. It’s the BEST! π

I’m hesitant to write such a gross thing, but I remember being devastated the first time one of my boys vomited in the night and didn’t wake me up to help him. Independence is such a good thing, and he was being thoughtful . . . but I really have loved caring for my kids — even when they are sick, so that was a tough one.

Michele, I understand that. That is going to be hard for me, too, when something like that happens. Being a mother brings up the weirdest emotions! π

I think about the effort and pain it took to get those little teeth through their gums as babies, and then before you know it, they are ready to be pulled. Time does go by too quickly.
