In the last few hours of this year, I thought it would be fun to revisit some of my most popular posts of 2014. Thank you for reading and sharing my blog. In 2014 it was viewed in 191 countries, and that is largely due to you, my daily readers, sharing things you see here that you like. So, thank you! And happy New Year!
1. Matthew McConaughey is Not My Hero. This post caused such a stir back in the spring that I felt like the most hated woman in the blogosphere for a few days. So many people either loved it or hated it that I eventually had to shut down the comments.
2. A Plea for Christians to Decide Now Not to Watch 50 Shades of Grey. This post also got people riled up this year.
3. The Me Time Myth. This was probably my most shared post of the year. It made it on WordPress’s Freshly Pressed page, and elicited another strong reaction from people on both sides of the debate.
4. Five Things We Teach Our Kids When We Don’t Know They’re Watching. Good reminders for all of us. I just went back and read it and felt convicted. I hate it when my own writing does that.
5. Ten Forgotten Ways to Teach Politeness to Children. My grandmother would’ve been pleased with this one.
6. There is No Such Thing as Dying with Dignity. A reaction to Brittany Maynard’s sad story.
7. How Male Bashing is Killing Our Sons. Male bashing is so common in our culture, we don’t even notice it anymore. But, make no mistake: our sons are getting the message loud and clear.
8. For the Girls Who Are Waiting. A love letter to the girls who are waiting to have sex.
9. How the Abortion Culture Affects Motherhood. There is more of the abortion culture mindset creeping into our parenting than we realize.
10. The Difference Between Looking and Seeing. This post didn’t get passed around much, but it is probably my favorite one of the year.
Honestly, I wish I could go back and revisit so many other posts that cover topics from whether our loved ones see us from Heaven to the dangers of progressive Christianity to the funny moments of motherhood. I have enjoyed this space and your listening ear this year. Thank you again for being a part of my little spot on the internet. We’ve got lots more to think about and discuss in 2015!
