I have had great success potty training my children in the past. I had a fool-proof system. I started shortly after they turned three, and both of the older kids were potty trained within a week. All I needed was a potty seat, an egg timer, a TV, and M&Ms. Trust me, it works.
Third babies are just so weird.
I don’t know if it’s because all of Emerald’s milestones have zoomed past without even so much as a one minute acknowledgement from her family, or if it’s the fact that most of the time when she learns something new we look at each other and say, Huh. Didn’t know she could do that. But, on Saturday morning Emerald decided to be potty trained.
Not to START potty training. Just to become a potty trained person.
She is two and a half, and she was tired of wearing diapers, I guess.
Well, okay.
I guess that’s done now. And, it didn’t even cost me a week’s worth of M&Ms.
She’s been moving and shaking and going about her business for three days now, diaper-free.
Huh. Didn’t know she could do that.

She sounds like Makayla. She turned 2 in May and on July 4th weekend she decided she wanted to wear her princess panties. We had a full day of outdoor activities that particular day and I thought of talking her out of it, but they are just so darn cute when they tell you exactly what the plan is using their limited vocabulary. She made it, although that has been 18 years ago I can’t remember her ever having an accident, that day or any others. Now returning to the bottle after 1 1/2 years of using a sippy cup, all because baby sister began having juice in her bottle was a different story. We had a 2 1/2 year old potty trained girl who would sneak off with her sister’s bottle.

Ha ha! How cute, Crystal!

That’s awesome! Congrats on your no more buying diapers raise too! I seriously need your fool proof method. My will be 3 in a couple weeks year old had recently decided she’s just not interested anymore. Fun stuff. Gotta love the super strong willed kid! 😉
