Are your kids familiar with the Septuagint? How about the Pentateuch? Do they have any idea how the books of the Bible came together or who wrote them? Well, my kids do, all because we watched the first two episodes of What’s in the Bible?, a DVD series created Phil Vischer of Veggie Tales fame.
These DVDs are sort of a cross between The Muppet Show and Saturday Night Live. They’re filled with skits, funny songs, and seriously thorough teaching, all presented by puppets and a few odd human beings. As an adult, I chuckled a lot at the different pop culture references, and my kids think the characters are hilarious.
But, the best thing about the DVDs is that they present some fairly deep teaching, all while making you feel like you’re just being entertained by a funny little variety show. It’s definitely not the kind of learning that children usually do when they are presented with information about the Bible. Much more than just a collection of Bible stories, these DVDs help to connect a lot of dots between each story, showing the kids how the entire Bible fits together and what it means as a complete revelation from God.

There is no better feeling than hearing that your grandchildren have asked Jesus into their hearts, or having your nine year old granddaughter call and ask to go to church with you, or sitting on the porch on a summer night with grandchildren discussing what Heaven is going to be like.
